Carmelo Anthony moves to No. 13 on the NBA All-Time scoring list

Trail Blazers

Carmelo Anthony was due for a big scoring night.

The 18-year veteran was held to just four points against the Chicago Bulls last Saturday and then just six points at Milwaukee on Monday.

Coming into tonight’s contest against the Washington Wizards, Melo needed 15 points to pass Dominique Wilkins for No. 13 on the all-time NBA scoring list.

He did just that. Anthony ranks second among active players in career points.

The Trail Blazers quickly jumped out to a 40-23 lead over the Wizards after the first quarter. Melo checked into the game and started off with a quick six points.

It didn’t take much longer after that to get to 15.

Anthony finished the first half with 14 points, hitting 5-for-9 from the field.

Melo passed Wilkins on a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down.

This season, Melo is averaging 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game off the bench for the Trail Blazers. He has been an instrumental piece in this Blazers second unit so far this year.
