Like a fine wine, Carmelo Anthony keeps getting better with age.
This week, the 18-year NBA veteran passed Hall of Famer Elvin Hayes on the NBA’s all-time scoring list to become the league’s 10th best scorer of all-time.
“A couple years ago I ain’t think I was gonna be in this moment,” Melo said in the locker room post-game. “I was out the league for whatever reason… I’m back. I persevered. I stayed strong I stayed true to myself & now I’m here in the Top 10.”
To celebrate, the NBA icon is wine-ing down with a few friends this week as part of his viral YouTube series, What’s In Your Glass? Anthony is partnering with Wine Spectator and Coravin and several familiar faces.
Joining him on Thursday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. PT is his teammate CJ McCollum, NFL Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and PJ Tucker of the Milwaukee Bucks. Melo & Co. will share their own personal wine experiences, discuss the cultural intersection of wine and sports, and how the industry can be more inclusive moving forward.
Conversation in the wine-themed YouTube series will be guided by Wine Spectator news editor Mitch Frank and Coravin CEO and board member Chris Ladd. The episode will stream on Wine Spectator and Carmelo Anthony’s YouTube channels.
Melo, the NBA’s wine-loving All-Star, also recently shared he would be gracing the cover of Wine Spectator for the month of May. In the issue, the 10x NBA All-Star shares how he became a serious wine collector and what knowledge he hopes to spread across basketball to the next generation of drinkers.
