Next up for McCollum will be Geoff Petrie who had 9,732 points in seven seasons as the Trail Blazers point guard from 1970-76.
Here’s the updated top 10 on the Blazers all-time scoring list as of the first quarter vs. Atlanta:
- Clyde Drexler (18,040)
- Damian Lillard (15,120)
- LaMarcus Aldridge (12,562)
- Terry Porter (11,330)
- Clifford Robinson (10,405)
- Jerome Kersey (10,067)
- Jim Paxson (10,003)
- Geoff Petrie (9,732)
- CJ McCollum (9,218)
- Mychal Thompson (9,215)
It's possible McCollum can enter the top-five in Blazers all-time scoring this season, given he has 59 games remaining after tonight. In 2019-20, McCollum scored 1,554 regular-season points in 70 games played while averaging 22.2 points per game.
Entering Saturday, CJ has been averaging a career-high 27.6 points game through 12 games for 331 points so far this season. At that pace, McCollum will end the 2020-21 regular season with 11,216 points which would be good for fifth all-time in Trail Blazers history.
Will he do it? With how he's been balling so far this season, it's tough to bet against him.
