Damian Lillard jumps to #2 in the NBA, Kia “MVP Ladder”

Trail Blazers

It is hard to argue that Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard isn't having one of the best seasons of his career.

And it finally seems that all media outlets are recognizing what Lillard has been doing on the court.

In the updated Kia MVP ladder, Lillard actually makes his way to #2 on the list.

Right behind Nikola Jokic - who is at the top of the list. writer Michael C. Wright had this to say about Lillard moving up on the list:

Maybe people will finally realize that “Dame Time” is a real thing. The man dropped a season-high 50 points Wednesday to help Portland rally from a 17-point, fourth-quarter deficit vs. New Orleans. The most eye-popping part of Lillard’s night was the fact he scored 50 points on a ridiculous 20 shots, which ranks No. 3 for the fewest field-goal attempts during a 50-point night in the shot-clock era (1954-55), according to Elias Sports Bureau. Lillard scored 36 points Thursday in another win against the Pelicans and poured in 15 of the team’s first 20 points.

For the season, Lillard has been averaging 30.6 ppg, 4.5 reg and 7.8 apg and has helped the Blazers maintain a 24-16 record and hold the 6th spot in the Western Conference Standings.

If Lillard keeps playing the way he does for the reminder of the season, it will be hard to not give him the MVP award.

Especially with the team not fully healthy and the output he is producing.

All we can do now is just watch and enjoy the way Lillard plays and continue to marvel at what he has been doing all season long.
