Okay, we get it.
A point forward can be on this list, but it’s surprising to have Luka Doncic make an appearance as one of the top point guards in the league at the moment and not have James Harden on the list.
So where does Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard fit in this list according to CBS? Lillard ranks third behind Stephen Curry and Doncic.
The list of PGs features both seasoned veterans and the young guns and as CBS states, Doncic is likely the only player ahead of Lillard in the MVP race this season.
"To me, Lillard trails only Luka Doncic in MVP likelihood. The Blazers had a great offseason, and Lillard just continues to get better, as impossible as that seems given the heights to which he has raised his game in recent years. What he did in getting Portland into the playoffs in the bubble was beyond extraordinary. It used to be laughable to try to put any point guard in the class of Stephen Curry, but Lillard has changed that. You have to talk about him in the same conversation as the very best players in the world." -- According to CBS Sports Michael Bohlin
CBS recognizes Lillard as one the very best PGs and also lists him as the No. 9 overall best player in the league.
Last season, the 30-year-old point guard elevated his game once again. He has shown that Dame range means he can take and make a half-court shot with ease, while still leading his team to prove that expectations are set too low for the Blazers year after year.
Lillard averaged 30.0 points and 8.0 assists in 66 regular season games played.
But when thinking about Luka Doncic making the list of point guards, there is something that stand outs in the CBS article:
While explaining why Doncic is the No. 2 best point guard, he is still listed as a shooting guard. That was just something of note that could make Rip City chuckle a little bit.
