During training camp of the 2020-21 NBA season, Damian Lillard told local media members he feels comfortable shooting from half-court and plans to pull-up from there this season.
And he had also informed his head coach Terry Stotts.
“I told him that I’m going to do it…” Lillard said. “Terry, he sees me in here every day. I work on my game. I address the things that I feel like I could do better, but the things that I do well, I just keep getting better at it, I spend time doing and I try to expand on that.”
Coach Stotts later told the media he knows it's coming: "I hope he makes it."
Luckily for Stotts, Lillard both made the shot and it came during the NBA All-Star game, twice.
In the first half, Lillard pulled up from behind the half-court line and drained the shot.
If that was not impressive enough, Lillard pulled up a step in front of the half-court line to end the game during the fourth quarter and then did his signature "Dame Time" celebration looking into the camera.
The game-winning shot, which gave Lillard 32 points to set a new All-Star game record for a Trail Blazer, made NBA Twitter go crazy.
Even Lillard's teammates got in on the fun, such as CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic.
Maybe the fans will remember this shot when it comes time to vote for the All-Star starters next season.
