It’s typically a good time to take a trip down memory lane.
And whenever that trip involves Damian Lillard’s .9 shot against the Houston Rockets, it's a great time!
So now that reports have surfaced that Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey is stepping down as Rockets GM, there are few tweets and other memories that we can’t help but think about when reminiscing about Morey discussing the Trail Blazers over the years.
First off, let’s talk about Lillard’s series ending shot over Chandler Parsons from 2014.
(How was that six years ago?)
During the shot-aversary this year, we learned how Morey handled watching (or not watching) Lillard’s walk-off three:
Former wrestler and current sports photographer Sol Neelman explained how Morey couldn’t stand to watch the final play and actually turned away from the court, while he also left Moda Center alone after the game was over.
Morey confirmed that feeling from six years ago…
Another simple tweet, but one that we can’t get off our minds when thinking about Morey’s tenure with Houston was a simple message posted back in Feb. of 2018.
Why the love for the Trail Blazers that day from Morey?
Because of his Rockets’ rivalry against the Golden State Warriors.
On Feb. 14, 2018, it wasn’t just another Valentine’s Day, it was a day for Morey to celebrate the Trail Blazers beating the Warriors, 123-117 despite Kevin Durant dropping a 50-piece.
So... You could say Morey was a Blazers fan or maybe it's more about hating on the Warriors, either way it's a Rip City tweet that will be remembered.
