The Portland Trail Blazers fought hard on Tuesday night against the Boston Celtics in a game that went down to the wire, but they weren't quite able to emerge with a win.
In the tightly contested battle, the Celtics eked out a 116-115 win and extended their winning streak to four games. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers fell to 1-4 in their last five.
Even despite the loss, Blazers center Enes Kanter appeared to have a sunny disposition before, during, and after the game. This is nothing new for Kanter, a typical force of positive energy, but there was a reason for his extra bounce on Tuesday. He was playing against his former team.
Kanter got a chance to catch up with his teammates from last year and was captured sharing a warm embrace with Celtics star Jaylen Brown before the game.
And after the game, Kanter snapped a picture with 7-foot-5 Celtics center Tacko Fall, who he became a close friend of and mentored during their time together in Boston.
It's no surprise to see that Kanter took time to catch up with his former Celtics teammates. He was well-liked in that locker room and has stayed in touch with some of his teammates. Of course, that certainly involved some playful trash talk, but at the end of the day, it's all in good fun for Kanter.
Kanter showed well offensively against his former team, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 boards, but his struggles on the defensive side of the ball led to him having a game-worst minus-18 rating in the Blazers' loss. He'll look to even the score on May 2, when Trail Blazers travel to Boston for a rematch with the C's.
But regardless of what happens, Kanter will be all smiles and happy to face off against his friends and former teammates.
