One of the NBA bubble’s rising stars will now be represented by one of the top agencies in sports.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. joins NBA stars like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons, Draymond Green, and teammate Jusuf Nurkic in inking a deal with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 21-year-old, who is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of next season, is looking for his first payday following a breakout sophomore season.
Trent Jr. was a significant contributor while inside the NBA Bubble, coming up clutch defensively for the Trail Blazers and shooting lights-out from behind the arc. Portland’s 3 and D wing averaged 8.9 points per game and 1.6 rebounds in 61 games and shot 42.9 percent from three-point range for the Trail Blazers.
During his rookie season, Trent Jr. averaged 2.7 points in just 15 games for Portland.
If Trent Jr. can pick up on where he left off when the Trail Blazers departed the bubble, he can undeniably play a huge role in Portland’s success in 2021. That upside could have him sitting on some fat stacks of cash in the future, too.
