The Trail Blazers, Fred Meyer, and NBC Sports Northwest are hosting the 11thannual Coat Drive in Fred Meyer stores.
This holiday season, we have teamed up with Fred Meyer and the Portland Trail Blazers to donate 3,000 new winter coats to kids and adults in Oregon and Washington.
Fred Meyer is also set to match the community's donation up to another 4,000 coats.
“We’re proud to partner with the Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer on this very special community initiative,” said Diane Penny, Senior Vice President/General Manager, NBC Sports Northwest. “The Portland community has always banded together to help out one another in times of need. The Trail Blazers and Fred Meyer continue to be leaders in fueling that spirit year-round.”
Last year, Gary Trent, Jr. participated in the Coat Drive after Rodney Hood, who was originally scheduled to attend the event, was unable to after suffering an Achilles injury. Still, GT was honored to join.
"I had the opportunity to come out with the kids, sign autographs, help them pick out some warm coats for the winter time, try to touch their life in a sense," Trent said. "It was a great day. The Trail Blazers do a great job giving back to the community, I’m blessed to be part of it.”
Forty-four stores are participating in this year’s coat drive. To donate, purchase a new coat at any of the participating Fred Meyer locations and drop it off in the collection bin by the entrance. For more information head over to trailblazers.com/coatdrive.
