After months of wondering if this day will come, it is really a great feeling that I am able to write this out finally:

The Portland Trail Blazers are playing playoff basketball today.

The top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers will take on the eighth-seeded Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs today, and it is arguably one of the most anticipated matchups in this year’s playoffs.

Obviously, for the Lakers, the biggest headache on the court from them is fairly obvious: it’s Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

LeBron James knows that this Blazers team is no “typical eight seed, ” he knows that this Portland is a whole different team compared to what the Lakers saw before the NBA shut down.

Lillard has shown and prove that he did not come here to waste his time, and wants to give this Blazer team a chance to go far in this playoffs.

With averaging 37.6 points and 9.6 assists in the eight seeding games, all against opponents that qualified for the postseason and being named bubble MVP, Lillard has the entire world on notice.

James, however, already knows what Lillard can do and sat down with Chris Haynes of YahooSports and talked about what he has done over these last eight games does not surprise him at all and takes into the fact that he believes he is one of the most ‘underappreciated’ players in the game.

Dame is doing what Dame does, no surprising me at all. One of the most underappreciated and underrated players we have in our game. From a player's perspective, he has everyone’s respect in our league.

Game 1 of tonights matchup will be the most interesting to watch because the Lakers and Blazers have been in opposite trajectories since the NBA restart:

The Lakers have looked rusty and out of sorts, and the Blazers have been red hot and look like they have been ready to play playoff basketball since July 31st.

The Blazers face the Lakers in Game 1 of their Western Conference Playoff Series today at 6:00 p.m. here on NBC Sports NW.
