It sounds like Portland will have one of their rotational wing players back in the fold for this upcoming season.
As the Trail Blazers gear up for the 2020 NBA Draft ahead of training camp starting next month with NBA games scheduled to start Dec. 22, Portland forward Mario Hezonja has reportedly exercised his 1.98 million player option for the 2020-21 season via HoopsHype Michael Scotto.
Hezonja signed a two-year, $3.7 million deal with a player option with Portland back on July 3, 2019.
Becoming a consistent point-forward was Hezonja’s goal coming into last season. Despite having his ups and downs, he proved to still be a player Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts used often in certain matchup situations.
The 25-year-old forward averaged 4.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists last season in 53 games played.
The athletic wing will look to continue to prove that he can play poistionless basketball, which is a necessity in today’s NBA.
