David Vanterpool's time in Minnesota has come to a close.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that Vanterpool, along with Minnesota assistant Bryan Gates, will not be returning to new coach Chris Finch’s staff next season.
Vanterpool is a well-known name among Trail Blazer fans. From 2012-19, Vanterpool was seen on the Portland bench as a key member of head coach Terry Stotts' staff.
He was largely credited with fostering the maturation and development of both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.
Both McCollum and Lillard have voiced their displeasure with Finch getting the Minnesota head coach nod before Vanterpool.
While Vanterpool may be out of a job at the moment, the strong endorsement from Lillard and McCollum will certainly help him get more interviews for a head coaching position once this season comes to an end.
