Trail Blazers fans are more than excited that shooting guard Norman Powell has been added to the team.
The Blazers are 3-0 since acquiring him, and Powell is easily having the best season of his entire NBA career.
Averaging nearly 20 points per game on 50% shooting from the field, 44% from the three-point arc, and shooting 90% from the free-throw line.
In a recent Players’ Tribune feature article, Powell wanted to give a thank you to the city and fans of Toronto for all the years he was there.
Throughout the article, he expressed how hard it has been so far to transition into a new organization. Which is completely fair.
But Powell wanted to make sure that when Portland fans dive into the article, that they know that he is ready to be apart of the team.
I just wanted to make that clear here, real quick, upfront,” Powell said. "This is an article for my Toronto people, mostly — but before I go any further, I feel like I need to say a word to my new people in Portland for a minute.”
The fact that Powell wanted to make a point to at least give a shoutout to Portland fans says something about his character.
The man wants to win, and he knows he can do that in Portland.
Powell is set to play his third game with the Blazers tonight against the Detroit Pistons.
So far, he is living up to the expectations the Blazers thought he would be providing for the team.
