Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter as wildfires continue to ravage through West Coast states.

The fast-moving fires in Oregon have led to widespread destruction, power outages and smoky orange skies, prompting Gov. Kate Brown to call the wildfires a “once-in a-generation event.”

As fires rage throughout Oregon and continue to ignite in nearly every corner of the state, many of the area’s prominent athletes and teams are coming together to lend strength and support as the Beaver State experiences conditions unlike anything seen before.

Several Trail Blazers including Anfernee Simons, Jaylen Hoard and Jusuf Nurkic extended their thoughts and well-wishes to Oregon.

Positive thoughts and prayers also poured in from current and former Ducks and Beavers.

Many teams including the Trail Blazers, Timbers, Thorns and Reign issued statements, expressing gratitude for those firefighters battling on the frontlines along the West Coast.

At NBC Sports Northwest, we join in offering our positive thoughts to our fellow Oregonians, firefighters and those impacted by these unprecedented times on the West Coast.
