What seemed likely before free agency commenced is now reportedly happening. Carmelo Anthony is signing with the Lakers, per ESPN.
The deal teams Anthony up with former Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook and teenage friend and former Olympic teammate LeBron James.
Anthony will be entering his 19th season in the NBA and continues his search for the one thing eluding his decorated resume: an NBA championship.
He joins a Lakers team led by Westbrook, James, and Anthony Davis.
Having turned 37-years-old a few months ago, the clock seems to be winding on Anthony obtaining his childhood dream.
The future Hall of Famer joins the Lakers after reviving his career the past two seasons with the Blazers. Just this past season Anthony came off the bench a career-high 66 games and averaged a career-low 13.4 points and shot a career-high 40.9% from three.
Spacing the floor will be imperative on the Lakers with penetrators like James and Westbrook.
