Report: NBA expects teams to conduct in-person interviews with 2020 draft prospects in mid-October

NBA teams still have plenty of time to sort out their 2020 NBA draft prospects.

The league is tentatively expecting teams to conduct in-person interviews with this year’s draft prospects starting in mid-October, that’s according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. As of right now, teams aren’t allowed to schedule any in-person workouts.

The Portland Trail Blazers currently own the 16th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

After reports surfaced Thursday that the 2020-21 NBA season would not start any earlier than Christmas Day, it became clear that proposed dates for the draft, free agency, and when the season will actually tip-off are still very fluid at this point.

Per Wojnarowski, the league is tentatively targeting a Nov. 18 virtual draft, but that date could still change.

Teams will reportedly receive an eight-week notice before the official date of opening night.
