Shawn Kemp’s Cannabis will be open next week.
The Seattle SuperSonics legend announced the grand opening of his downtown Seattle store in a press release.
Kemp will hold the grand opening of his cannabis shop on Oct. 30 with his former Sonics teammate, Hall of Famer Gary Payton, by his side.
The green ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. PT, with the store officially open to the public at 1 p.m.
Payton has been in the cannabis business for the past year.
In 2019, he launched CannaSports. A cannabis company that offers THC and CBD vape cartridges as well as batteries with SuperSonics color schemes.
Kemp’s store is located at 3035 1st Ave. in downtown Seattle near Climate Pledge Arena. (Or as Kemp and long-time Sonics fans knew it and love it as -- the Key Arena).
The store will be nearly 4,000 square feet.
The Reign Man shared his excitement of the grand opening in the store’s press release.
Kemp has partnered with Matt Schoenlein and Ramsey Hamide of Main Street Marijuana. Kemp’s store will be Seattle’s first black-owned dispensary and one of the few cannabis shops in the Seattle metro area.
Shawn Kemp’s Cannabis will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.
"My name is on this company and I have worked hard to bring Shawn Kemp’s Cannabis to fruition,” Kemp said. “I want to provide nothing short of the best selection, customer experience and prices in Seattle.”
Kemp played the first eight seasons of his career with the Sonics from 1989-97 after Seattle selected him No. 17 overall in the 1989 draft. The 6’10” big man helped Seattle reach the NBA Finals in 1995-96. In 14 seasons in the leagues with stops in Cleveland, Portland, and Orlando, Kemp averaged 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds throughout his career, while earning six All-Star nods.
