Tokyo Olympics: Damian Lillard played through abdomen injury

Damian Lillard wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of Team USA taking back a fourth consecutive Olympic Gold Medal.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Lillard played through an abdomen injury through the end of the Olympics en route to a first-place finish.

The Trail Blazers point guard will undergo additional testing once back in the United States.

Lillard averaged 11.2 points and 3.2 assists per game for Team USA, shooting 38.3% from the field and 34.8% on threes.

Head coach Gregg Popovich subbed him out due to him being a defensive liability at numerous points in Tokyo.

However, Lillard came up big in the second half of the Gold Medal game scoring 11 points.

“In the fourth quarter [Lillard] took over for us,” said Kevin Durant after winning his third gold medal.
