Midway through the third quarter of the Trail Blazers and Warriors game Friday night, Trail Blazers' five-time All-Star Damian Lillard hit a very memorable three-pointer, and he’s had plenty of those.
With 5:40 remaining in the third quarter and off a screen from Harry Giles, Lillard knocked down a three at the top of the key to help him reach the 15,000 career point milestone.
Heading into Friday’s contest, Lillard was 21 points away from recording 15,000 career points.
He is now the second Trail Blazers player to reach that mark.
Clyde Drexler is the franchise’s all-time scoring leader with 18,040.
In his 620th career game, Lillard ties Larry Bird as the 21st fastest player to score 15,000 points in NBA history.
Heading into this season there were plenty of players who were on the verge of 15,000 career points, per Sports Teller:
- Damian Lillard 14,887 Career Points
- Lou Williams 14,490 Career Points
- Paul Millsap -13,919 Career Points
- Andre Iguodala -13,552 Career Points
- Kyle Lowry -13,481 Career Point
Yet another big milestone for the Trail Blazers star point guard. Congrats, Dame!
