The Trail Blazers looked dead in the water.
Portland trailed by five points with 11.5 seconds remaining. The odds of winning at that point... not good.
But with Damian Lillard on your team, the odds are always in your favor.
The Blazers found a way to get Lillard the ball and the Trail Blazers star drained a deep three to cut the Bulls lead to just two with 8.2 seconds left.
But the Blazers still had a hill to climb. They needed to foul the Bulls and hope for a missed free throw and a three-point game. What they got was much, much better.
Gary Trent Jr., who had been on a tear on both ends all game, forced a jump ball on the inbounds and suddenly the Blazers had a lot of life left.
Trent won the jump ball, the rock found its way to Lillard, and as time expired Damian Lillard did what Damian Lillard does best - he drained a game-winner.
The team swarmed Lillard as the Bulls walked straight to the locker room. The game and its finish were about as improbable as they come, but in the end, it's just another big-time moment for a big-time player.
Lillard earned the walk-off interview with Brooke Olzendam, and while he was answering all the tough questions his teammate went to the locker room to wait for him and celebrate.
Dame was the last player to enter the locker room, and when he did, the team went wild.
The celebration shows just how big the win was. A weight has been lifted after a stretch of tough games and tough losses. Portland needed a win to get back on track and they got it in a fashion Rip City has come very accustomed to over the years - They won when the clock struck Lillard Time.
