The injury riddled Trail Blazers will face the Chicago Bulls Saturday night in the second contest of their current six-game road trip.
And just when one Portland starter is set to make his return to the lineup another is out.
The team announced that Robert Covington (concussion) is available for Saturday’s game in Chicago, while Derrick Jones Jr. (left foot sprain) will miss his first full game of the season.
Per Trail Blazers radio, Portland’s head coach Terry Stotts announced that Covington will wear a facemask for Saturday’s game and Nassir Little will start in place of the injured Derrick Jones Jr. Gary Trent Jr. will remain the starting two-guard.
Covington suffered the concussion late in last Sunday's home game against the Knicks.
Saturday’s matchup against Chicago is the second of two games between the two this season as Portland will look to even up the regular season series.
It was back on Jan. 5, when the Bulls edged out the Trail Blazers, 111-108 at Moda Center. In the loss, CJ McCollum led the way with 26 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals. For the Bulls, Coby White recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.
Coach Stotts spoke with the media about that previous matchup.
The Blazers will also be without CJ McCollum (left midfoot fracture), Jusuf Nurkic (right wrist fracture) and Zach Collins (left ankle stress fracture) Saturday.
For the Bulls, Wendell Carter Jr. (right quadricep; contusion) and Devon Dotson (G League - On Assignment) will be unavailable.
Portland and Chicago tip-off at 5:00p.m. PST on NBCSNW, the official network of the Portland Trail Blazers.
