Not only are Trail Blazers Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum and his wife Elise set to welcome their first child, but now they’ve announced that they have purchased a vineyard property in Oregon.
Last week, McCollum took to his Instagram to share the news that he and his wife are expecting and now their wine family is growing as well.
CJ and his wife got married last Sept. at a beautiful Oregon vineyard after getting engaged in Sept. of 2018.
It was back in June of 2020 when McCollum unveiled his first signature wine, Heritage 91 pinot noir.
Fast forward to just before the start of the 2021-22 NBA season and the McCollums are embarking on their latest wine adventure.
In a press release sent out Tuesday, McCollum explained the idea of buying the 318-acre property in the Willamette Valley's Yamhill-Carlton AVA, saying, "It's been just over a year since we announced the McCollum Heritage 91 label, but for far longer Elise and I have had the privilege of exploring various vineyard sites throughout the Willamette Valley. As we explored the long-term vision of McCollum Heritage 91 and beyond, we truly craved enhancing our sense of place, which is represented by the acquisition of this beautiful property."
The name of the McCollum vineyard has yet to be announced.
McCollum will now become the first active NBA player to own a vineyard, but the plans are ongoing for when the grapes will actually be grown on site. For now, wine lovers can gear up for the latest release of McCollum Heritage 91. The 2019 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir goes on sale on September 27 at 9:00am PT.
