With NBA players preparing for the 2020-21 season following the shortest offseason in league history, Damian Lillard will reach for Gatorade to fuel his workouts.
The five-time NBA All Star is the latest athlete to sign with Gatorade, joining basketball stars like Zion Williamson, Karl Anthony Towns, Paul George, Elena Delle Donne and more.
Lillard will promote one of Gatorade’s newest brands, BOLT24, this December. The watermelon and sea salt-based drink has no artificial sweeteners or flavors and features two varieties, Antioxidant and Energize.
“Damian is not just a dynamic basketball player, he’s also a dynamic person off the court,” said Jeff Kearney, global head of sports marketing at Gatorade. “He brings so much to the table – thoughtfulness, character, raw talent, honed craftsmanship – he’s always ready and he’s always real, which is what BOLT24 is all about.”
Lillard added, “It is new now, but there will come a time when BOLT24 is a well-known thing. I saw it as an opportunity to be tied to that history.”
While Lillard has quickly risen to the top of the NBA ranks as one of the league’s elite stars, his resume in business keeps flourishing.
The 30-year-old guard has a signature shoe line with Adidas and is one of the company’s top NBA sellers. Dame released the Dame 7’s this fall. He also began the Visionary Academy, an internship program through the Adidas Legacy program in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago.
Lillard, also known as rapper Dame D.O.L.L.A., has released three studio albums and has his fourth studio album coming in early 2021. He collaborated on a single with Tyla Yaweh and DDG called “Stuntin’ on You,” which dropped Thursday night.
The Trail Blazers superstar has also taken over the video game world as NBA2K21’s cover athlete. Recently, Lillard became part of the next WWE 2K Battlegrounds roster updates and will appear in the game with his white and gold colorway of the Adidas Dame 7 "Ric Flair" shoe, which he designed with the WWE Hall of Famer himself.
Lillard is in the final year of his current Trail Blazers contract worth $31.6 million. Next season, he’ll kick off a four-year supermax deal worth $176 million, fully-guaranteed.
Now he'll add a partnership with Gatorade to his lengthy list of accomplishments.
