The Blazers seemed to have been the most mentioned team this offseason.
Primarily because of their coaching search but also because of the possible trades that could occur if the team looked to reset.
One trade that’s been rumored has been Damian Lillard being dealt elsewhere. Since the Blazers’ season ended, his name has been mentioned in multiple trade possibilities.
On the latest The Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst debunked the possibility of Portland trading their All-Star, as he’s not seriously looking to change teams.
“I don’t believe, based on my conversations, that Dame is serious at this point about saying that he wants out,” said Windhorst. “But I do think he was put in a very uncomfortable position, and partially because of his own making.”
The “very uncomfortable position” Windhorst is alluding to is Lillard not knowing about Chauncey Billups’ past, which has become a hot topic of conversation.
Despite the tough situation, Lillard not wanting out is a sign of positivity for the fan base and team. He’ll be the main man next to Billups as the two will look to get the Blazers to the next level.
Lillard averaged 28.8 points, 7.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game a season ago.
The upcoming season will mark the first season of Lillard’s four-year, $176.3 million extension, which he signed in July 2019.
