100-year-old woman breaks 100m record (video)

It looks like Ida Keeling‘s record for fastest 100m by a 100-year-old woman didn’t last three weeks.

Ella Mae Colbert, a retired South Carolina teacher, on Tuesday shattered Keeling’s famous mark set at the Penn Relays on April 30.

Colbert ran the 100m in 46.79 seconds, according to NBC affiliate WYFF. Keeling’s sprint was 1 minute, 17.33 seconds.

“Some of these kids around here, they know I don’t stop,” Colbert told media afterward. “I feel all right. I’m not tired.”

It was Colbert’s second attempt, after she fell in her first try (video here) and had her chin bandaged.

“I think I started off too fast,” Colbert said. “You have something that get in your way, but you don’t let it get you down.”
