World all-around champion Simone Biles competes for the first time this year in front of as many as 200 friends and family in her home state at the AT&T American Cup, live on NBC and NBC Sports Live Extra on Saturday.

Biles, 17, is the current favorite for all-around gold at the Rio Olympics, which are 17 months away. That’s a long time in gymnastics, a sport where no woman has made back-to-back U.S. Olympic teams since 1996 and 2000.

Biles’ top competition at the AT&T American Cup in Arlington, Texas, includes a teammate from the 2014 World Championships, MyKayla Skinner.

On the men’s side, two-time reigning U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak faces a field that includes Japanese World all-around medalists Ryohei Kato and Yusuke Tanaka and World Championships teammate Donnell Whittenburg.

The gymnastics season continues with the Jesolo Trophy in Italy in three weeks, a meet that could be the first competition for 2012 U.S. Olympic champions Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman since they won gold in London.
