Amy Purdy will drive the Daytona 500 honorary pace car on Sunday, less than a month after she appeared in a Super Bowl commercial, and less than a year after she won a Sochi Paralympic bronze medal and was runner-up on “Dancing With the Stars.”

“This is another opportunity to try something new and be bold in my own life,” the snowboard cross rider Purdy said in a press release.

Purdy, 35, survived bacterial meningitis in 1999 but lost both her legs and later needed a kidney from her father at age 20.

She built her own snowboard and is seen as instrumental in getting snowboarding into the Paralympic program. A model, she’s been in a Madonna music video and on “The Amazing Race” in 2012.
