World’s top ski cross racer in coma after training crash

Swedish skier Anna Holmlund was put in a medically induced coma after hitting her head in a training crash, causing her to lose consciousness as well as bleeding in her brain, according to the Swedish Ski Association and Reuters.

Holmlund, 29, was training in Italy before a World Cup race Tuesday.

The Swedish Ski Association said it would provide more updates as they become available.

Holmlund took bronze at the Sochi Olympics and won the last two World Cup season titles.
