Catalina Ponor, three-time gymnastics gold medalist, eyes Rio 2016 Olympics comeback
Romanian gymnast Catalina Ponor wants to compete at a third Olympics in 2016, according to Romanian media.
Ponor, 27 and a five-time Olympic medalist, re-entered a drug-testing pool, it was announced in February. She has not competed since the London 2012 Games, where she won floor exercise silver and team bronze and then retired.
Ponor was the most decorated gymnast at the Athens 2004 Olympics, bagging gold in the team event, floor exercise and balance beam. She missed the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Ponor hopes to return to a Romanian team led by Larisa Iordache, who won World Championships all-around silver behind American Simone Biles in October. Romania placed fourth in the team competition.
