Olympic curler Jeff Isaacson gets medal ceremony sendoff from school kids

Jeff Isaacson

U.S. curler Jeff Isaacson received one authentic Olympic sendoff that likely won’t be topped.

Isaacson, a science teacher at Eveleth (Minn.) Gilbert Junior High School, was feted by 400 students in a ceremony Wednesday, according to ABC News in Duluth.

The event included a mini parade of nations and Olympic torch and even a medal ceremony with the national anthem. You can watch highlights in the video above and another clip on YouTube here.

That’s not all. ABC also reported there was a rendition of “What Does the Fox Say?” whose lyrics were previously mixed with curling terms in this video from the U.S. women’s curling team.

After receiving a gold medal and bouquet, Isaacson gave a speech.

“Sochi’s going to have a tough time competing with this, no doubt,” he said. “A lot of you have asked if you can come along with me in the carry-ons and the suitcases. I can’t bring anyone along, so I’m sorry.

“I think a lot of you would be stuck in the Olympic Village anyway. With the free food and free McDonald’s, you’d never leave.”
