U.S. skier Julia Mancuso is a medal away from tying Bode Miller for the United States record for five Alpine skiing, but she remains at four after failing to make the podium in Wednesday’s women’s downhill.
Mancuso, 29, won bronze in the super combined thanks to a strong downhill portion. That stoked hopes that she might win another medal today, but she fell short of the mark with a 1:42.56 time.
She still has two shots at another medal in 2014, so her run isn’t over yet.
Ahh! It happens! Not my day today- but pretty cool to see a tie for gold! #believeinUS still proud to represent my country in 8th!
