Kerron Clement has restored order to the 400m hurdles at the Olympics.

The 2008 silver medalist is now the 2016 gold medalist after blazing a 47.73 to edge Boniface Tumuti of Kenya on Thursday in Rio.

The United States has now won 7 of the last 9 golds in the men’s 400m hurdles finals. Both exceptions were the 2004 and 2012 victories from Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic.

The result is a season best for Clement (in more ways the one).
