Update: One runner dies, another goes missing, found after London Marathon
A 42-year-old male runner died after collapsing at the finish of the London Marathon, while a Sierra Leone woman who finished 20th and disappeared after Sunday’s race was found Monday.
The man received immediate medical attention, but his death was confirmed upon arrival at a hospital, according to marathon organizers.
The woman, Mami Konneh Lahun, 24, finished 25 minutes behind winner Edna Kiplagat. Konneh Lahun is Sierra Leone’s fastest-ever woman in the 5000m and 10,000m and won the 2013 Liberia and Sierra Leone marathons, according to British reports.
Konneh Lahun reportedly did not return to her temporary accommodation in London after the race, but Scotland Yard said in a statement she was found “safe and well.”
