After a sloppy first run, Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris saved his best for last, nailing his second semifinals slopestyle session with an 89.25 score. Find out who else made it here and here.

As one of the top contenders in the first-time Olympic event, McMorris seemed to be in danger of failing to make the finals altogether. He came through on Saturday, allowing him to compete in the finals, which kick off at 3:45 a.m. ET.

McMorris, 20, came into Sochi with some questions about whether his rib (“McRib”) injury would curtail his chances. He insisted otherwise, but whatever impact that issue might have on his abilities, the ailment didn’t cause him to miss out on a chance to compete for what could be a hotly contested gold.

There are plenty of talented competitors, yet it may very well come down to McMorris versus his countryman Max Parrot. Check out this Tale of the Tape to see how the two compare.
