While Mikaela Shiffrin entered the women’s slalom as a favorite, winning gold is easier said than done. Especially with a field that included multiple gold medalists such as Slovenia’s Tina Maze and Germany’s Maria Hoefl-Riesch. Especially as an 18-year-old.

She made it happen on Friday and her peers took to Twitter to praise her strong work. Here are some of the highlights.

As great as the present clearly is, the future is indeed quite bright. In fact, the 18-year-old seems primed to add another discipline to her regimen.
