U.S. pairs figure skater Simon Shnapir, a 2014 Olympic team event bronze medalist, announced his retirement Tuesday.
Shnapir, 27, said he looked forward to coaching full time and getting into broadcasting in a press release.
Shnapir and Marissa Castelli helped the U.S. to bronze in the first Olympic team event in Sochi and finished ninth in the later pairs competition. Shnapir and Castelli, the 2013 and 2014 U.S. pairs champions, announced their split on May 7, 2014.
Shnapir skated with DeeDee Leng last season. They finished eighth at the U.S. Championships in January.
