Ted Ligety expected back shortly after wrist injury (video)
Olympic giant slalom champion Ted Ligety injured his wrist hooking a gate in training and underwent surgery Saturday but is expected to return to skiing shortly, the U.S. Ski Team said.
Ligety’s next planned race is a super-G in Lake Louise, Alberta, next Sunday. He was to be fitted with a splint to wear while skiing. Ligety expected to return to skiing Monday, according to his social media.
Ligety got off to a slow start this season, finishing 10th in a giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, on Oct. 26. He had won in Soelden the previous three years. Ligety then finished 18th in a slalom in Levi, Finland, on Nov. 16.
Teammate Bode Miller underwent back surgery last week and hopes to return in January.
