Many believe that French biathlete Martin Fourcade is capable of sweeping the individual biathlon events. He’ll begin that attempt with the 10km sprint on Saturday, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Fourcade is certainly not the only strong contender, however, as Norwegians Emil Hegle Svendsen and Ole Elnar Bjoerndalen could very well end up on the podium (if not with gold).
Two Americans stand out as ones who could give the U.S. its first gold in the event: Tim Burke and Lowell Bailey. Both should be cool and collected as they enter their third Olympics.
