With no margin for error, the United States men’s volleyball has a must-win situation on Thursday in Rio.

Beat powerful Brazil on their home floor, or go home.

It’s one of six men’s volleyball matches on the docket, starting at 8:30 a.m. EDT with Iran vs Cuba.

Brazil vs. USA -- 9:30 p.m. EDT

There’s a pair of American duos hitting the sand in beach volleyball this afternoon, with differing degrees of desperation.

American No. 2 women’s duo Brooke Sweat and Lauren Fendrick have a real problem on their hands when they face Pool A’s other 0-2 side: Evgenia Ukolova and Ekaterina Khomyakova. Win, and it’s into the third place group. Lose, and out.

Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena are 2-0 and fine tuning things for the knockout rounds when they face an Italian side that knocked Dalhausser out of the running for gold in 2012.
