A multi-sport competition taking place on a beach could launch in 2017, the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) said Wednesday.

A host city/nation has not been decided. Approval from the ANOC assembly is expected Friday, according to The Associated Press.

Beach Games are already held in Asia and South America. The sports at those events include jet skiing and flag football.

“The Asian Beach Games will be a good example because there’s a lot of new sports,” ANOC president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said Wednesday, according to Reuters. “You will have beach track and field for the first time, modern pentathlon, changed from five to three [disciplines] ... American beach football, and extra machine sports [jet ski, waterskiing].”
