2020 NBA trade rumors: Derrick Rose, Bogdan Bogdanovic likely staying put

Two players who the Sixers had been linked with ahead of Thursday afternoon's trade deadline are likely staying put, according to reports.

Pistons point guard Derrick Rose will stay with Detroit “barring an unforeseen offer,” per Yahoo Sports’ Vince Goodwill. Yahoo’s Chris Haynes had reported that the Sixers were interested in trading for Rose, the youngest MVP in NBA history. Now 31 years old, Rose has averaged 18.5 points and 5.8 assists this season.

Goodwill writes that, though Rose is likely to remain with Detroit, the Pistons will “seriously consider” an offer for him that includes a lottery pick, an asset the Sixers do not possess.

Meanwhile, the New York Times’ Marc Stein reports the Kings are optimistic they can retain Bogdan Bogdanovic this summer, when he's set to become a restricted free agent.

Sam Amick and Shams Charania of The Athletic had named the Sixers and Hornets as teams interested in Bogdanovic, a 27-year-old guard with a knack for scoring off the bench. Stein says the Kings’ desire to keep Bogdanovic was a key factor in their deal with the Hawks on Wednesday night. Sacramento sent disgruntled center Dewayne Dedmon and two second-round picks to the Hawks in exchange for Jabari Parker and Alex Len, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

It never seemed probable that the Sixers would be able to snag Rose or Bogdanovic, given the team’s limited attractive assets, Detroit’s reported asking price of a lottery pick and Bogdanovic’s upcoming restricted free agent status.
