The Sixers' two top-line centers are both dealing with injuries, putting a spotlight on the team's lack of depth at the position.

On Tuesday, we received updates on both Joel Embiid and Boban Marjanovic.

Embiid, who has been out since the All-Star break with left knee soreness, won't play Thursday against the Thunder, per NBC Sports Philadelphia's Serena Winters. The team is expected to provide an update on Embiid before Saturday's game vs. Golden State.

The team announced Thursday night that Boban Marjanovic is out with a bone bruise and mild sprain of the right knee and will be re-evaluated in approximately 5-7 days.

The Sixers have preached caution and playoff readiness with Embiid, so the fact that he's getting another game off isn't shocking. We'll miss an opportunity to see him square off against Russell Westbrook, a testy matchup that has become appointment viewing (see story).

After seeing Marjanovic need to be carried off the floor Monday night in New Orleans, it's encouraging that he won't be out for a longer period of time.

It'll be interesting to see how the Sixers cope in Oklahoma City without Embiid and Marjanovic. Jonah Bolden, a starter Monday, and Amir Johnson, on the outside of the rotation for most of the season, appear to be the two primary options currently on the team. Mike Scott is also a possibility in small lineups.

This also could be the right time to give Justin Patton a shot with the Sixers. Patton wants to be more than just "the other guy" acquired in the Jimmy Butler trade (see story). He has played seven games for the Blue Coats, averaging 11.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 18.2 minutes per game. The No. 16 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Patton suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot in September. He has just one game of NBA experience.

The Sixers also announced Thursday that Furkan Korkmaz underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to address the meniscus tear suffered in his right knee on Feb. 12. He will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.
