Mike Muscala injury update: Sixers' big out at least 1 week

The Sixers will be without a key role player for at least one week.

Mike Muscala suffered a fractured nose and facial laceration Tuesday during practice and will be reevaluated in one week, the Sixers announced Wednesday morning. Muscala will miss tonight's game in Indiana.

Muscala will wear a protective mask once he's cleared to return. The laceration required six stitches and the injuries occurred from a collision with a teammate Tuesday.

The 6-foot-11 power forward is averaging 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in his first season with the Sixers. He missed the team's first three games because of an ankle sprain but carved out a decent role coming off the bench for Brett Brown.

In fact, with Dario Saric struggling, Brown has elected to close out the past two games with Muscala over Saric. With Muscala out, it will be interesting to see how Brown divides up his minutes at the four tonight in Indiana as the Sixers seek their first road win (see story).

Wilson Chandler, who missed Sunday's embarrassing loss in Brooklyn, is available tonight in Indiana. Chandler’s minutes’ restriction has been increased to 15 minutes, Brett Brown said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia's Serena Winters.
