While the trade deadline has long passed, the Sixers can still take advantage of the buyout market to try and improve their team.
In order for a player to eligible for their next team’s playoff roster, they have to be let go by their previous team by March 1. While we went over a few players that would fit the Sixers last week, a couple more names hit the market on Saturday.
Here are five players that could interest the Sixers:

Allen Crabbe
Crabbe was a hot name on the free agent market back in 2017 after four strong seasons in Portland. Things haven’t gone as well for him since he signed a big contract with the Nets, and he’ll be looking to play for his fourth team in two years after agreeing to a buyout with the Timberwolves Sunday.
The 27-year-old is having a tough season, shooting just 30.3 percent from three during his stints in Atlanta and Minnesota. The previous six seasons, Crabbe hit 39.3 percent from deep.
The issue is that the Sixers could be a tough sell for Crabbe with wings minutes not being readily available. They added Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III — who’s already voiced confusion over his role — at the trade deadline and have gotten contributions from youngsters Furkan Korkmaz, Matisse Thybulle and Shake Milton.
NBA
The 6-foot-5 veteran would be a fit as a potential 3-and-D type and the team could waive either Kyle O’Quinn or Raul Neto to make room. It’s just hard to imagine Crabbe wouldn’t find an easier path to minutes somewhere else.
Anthony Tolliver
The Kings waived Tolliver Sunday, allowing the 34-year-old to try to latch on with a contender. The 6-foot-8 forward does one thing well: Shoot. Unfortunately, he hasn’t done it that well this season, hitting 30.8 percent from three. Like Crabbe, he does have a strong percentage over a much larger sample size. He’s also hit 39.3 percent from deep over the previous six seasons.
With Tolliver, he just isn’t much of an upgrade over what you have, nor does he provide what the team needs. With Ben Simmons out — and even before that — the Sixers need more competent ball handlers. Tolliver is sort of similar to Mike Scott, who’s fallen out of the rotation because he hasn’t hit shots consistently. Scott brings more from an energy and physicality standpoint so, again, it's hard to see Tolliver as an upgrade.
Tyler Johnson
It’s a little surprising that Johnson has been out there this long after being waived by Phoenix several weeks ago. He was having a brutal season with the Suns but made threes while playing hard-nosed defense as a combo guard in parts of five seasons for the Heat. Still only 27, Johnson has also done well taking care of the basketball throughout his career (1.6 turnovers per 36 minutes).
If he can find his shot, Johnson would make a ton of sense for the Sixers. Unlike Neto, Johnson could presumably hold up better on the defensive end at 6-foot-3. Of the options available, Johnson still seems to make the most sense.
Dion Waiters
The wild card of all wild cards. Waiters still appears to have a knack for scoring, but the 28-year-old was suspended multiple times by the Heat before being moved to Memphis in the Andre Iguodala deal and subsequently waived.
An optimist would say you could bring Waiters back to his hometown team and he could put it all together. A realist would say the Sixers are already dealing with players concerned about their roles and Waiters just doesn’t seem like a strong fit in this locker room right now.
Tim Frazier
Frazier, who was waived by the Pistons right after the trade deadline, is a floor general. He excels at getting a team organized and running an offense, skills the Sixers could presumably use. He’s not a strong shooter but has hit at a league average clip over this last two seasons (35.9 percent).
The question with Frazier would be is he a strong enough upgrade over Neto? With Neto already in the fold and knowing the system, the answer is likely no.
