Former Sixer rips Brett Brown after firing, then flip-flops

After the Sixers fired Brett Brown on Monday, most in the sports world lamented that such a good guy couldn't make it work here in Philly. Brown is largely well-respected in the basketball community, and he'll probably have another job soon.

But not *everyone* was so gracious.

In a from-the-hip tweet that has since been deleted, former Sixers guard and current G-League player Jonathon Simmons seemingly ripped Brown with an explicit one-liner.

Warning: The following tweet contains NSFW language.

Simmons received a fair amount of blowback for the tweet considering his tenuous status in the league. I'd imagine his agent or someone close asked him to take it down, since Brown will likely be on another NBA coaching staff in the future and Simmons isn't exactly in the business of choosing where he plays.

Simmons was acquired in the fateful Markelle Fultz trade during the 2018-19 season, and spent 15 games with the Sixers, scoring 5.5 points per game while shooting 45.3% from the field and 42.9% from deep.

The Sixers then traded him to the Wizards, along with Admiral Schofield, for cash, and Simmons hasn't played in an NBA game since.

Perhaps, instead of pillorying a well-respected guy like Brown, Simmons should be grateful that Brown gave him a shot, despite his clearly limited skill set.
