Report: Sixers' Markelle Fultz expects to play again this season

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Markelle Fultz and his agent, Raymond Brothers, expect Fultz to play again this season.

General manager Elton Brand said Saturday that whether or not Fultz will return to the court in 2018-19 is still "to be determined," and that the team will have an update on Fultz in a few weeks (see story).

Fultz has been undergoing rehab in Los Angeles for thoracic outlet syndrome with physical therapist Judy Seto.

“His range of motion, there’s been improvement with his rehab,” Wojnarowski said.

Fultz and rookie Zhaire Smith traveled with the team to Boston, where the Sixers will take on the Celtics.

Wojnarowski said the Sixers have fielded calls from teams that have interest in Fultz, but “[the Sixers] are holding onto him, they want to see how this rehab process goes and what he is when he returns to this team.”

Brand said Saturday he expects Smith to play this season, while center Justin Patton told NBC Sports Philadelphia that his rehab following surgery in September for a Jones fracture in his right foot is progressing well and he "definitely" plans to play in 2018-19.

Not even taking into account the trade or buyout markets, the Sixers' bench will likely look a lot different in a few months.
