All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons welcome back midseason additionTobias Harris and a host of new teammates headlined by Josh Richardson and former Celtic Al Horford. We take a look at some of the juiciest matchups for Brett Brown’s squad. We also have the full broadcast schedule listed below.
Oct. 23 — Sixers vs. Celtics, 7:30 p.m., NBCSP/ESPN
Do we really need to spell this one out for you? Opening night, at home, against a bitter rival. The historic rivalry got another layer added to it with Horford deciding to leave Boston and sign with his former teammate Elton Brand’s squad. This will also be our first look at Kemba Walker, a notorious Sixers killer, in Celtics green.
Nov. 23 — Sixers vs. Heat, 7:30 p.m., NBCSP
NBA
Another game you simply can’t miss. Jimmy Butler makes his return to the Wells Fargo Center after forcing a sign-and-trade to Miami. Will Butler be greeted with cheers for his efforts during the playoffs or boos for spurning the Sixers for the Heat? It’s also Richardson’s first chance to “kill” his former team.
Nov. 25 — Sixers at Raptors, 7:30 p.m., NBCSP
Returning to the scene of the infamous quadruple doink. Kawhi Leonard went out west, but the defending champs still have a strong roster, including Philly native Kyle Lowry. The Raptors also still have Marc Gasol, who has historically given Embiid fits throughout his career.
Jan. 3 — Sixers at Rockets, 8 p.m., NBCSP/ESPN
Speaking of Embiid, one of his biggest nemesis is now a Houston Rocket. It will be interesting to see how the dynamic of Russell Westbrook and James Harden works. It will be just as fun to see Westbrook and Embiid jaw at each other throughout the night.
April 7 — Sixers vs. Bucks, 7:30 p.m., NBCSP/TNT
It seems pretty clear that the Sixers are in a two-team race for the Eastern Conference with the Bucks. Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo comes to town and the stakes could be high. With just a few games left in the regular season, this game could be what determines who will be the No. 1 seed in the East.
April 11 — Sixers at Pelicans, 7 p.m., NBCSP
JJ Redick enjoyed arguably his two best NBA seasons with the Sixers. Both parties went in a different direction this offseason. Redick will be playing with 2019 No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson, who should be good for a highlight reel dunk or two.
