With former Sixers senior VP of player personnel Marc Eversley taking the Bulls’ GM job, it’s fair to wonder if he’ll take anyone with him to Chicago.
If Chicago decides to move on from Jim Boylen as the Bulls’ head coach, current Sixers assistant Ime Udoka could be a candidate to replace him, per Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.
Udoka and Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, who was with Chicago as a player and coach, are the two names “standing out” if Boylen is let go, according to Mayberry.

“Udoka, meanwhile, is a name one league source said the Bulls are likely to take a look at after picking up Eversley, who worked with Udoka this season with the Sixers,” Mayberry wrote. “Udoka is in the first year of a three-year contract that reportedly ranks him among the league’s highest-paid assistants.”
The nuggets about Udoka’s contract are interesting. The 42-year-old was plucked from Gregg Popovich’s staff in San Antonio this past offseason to replace Monty Williams as Brett Brown’s top assistant, and take over for Billy Lange as the team’s de facto defensive coordinator.
As Mayberry points out in the article, Udoka has been a hot name to one day become a head coach. Udoka interviewed for the Cavaliers head job that ultimately went to John Beilein before the 2019-20 season.
Since Udoka is under contract, the Sixers would have to grant Eversley and the Bulls permission to interview him. What the Sixers choose to do if that situation arises could tell us a lot about what the organization thinks of Udoka — and possibly its current head coach.
