The Sixers’ roster is just about set.
The team will sign two-way player Shake Milton to a four-year deal with salary cap room, a team source tells NBC Sports Philadelphia. Brian Michael Jacobs of The Painted Lines was the first to report.
Milton, a 2018 second-round pick out of SMU, played 20 games with the Sixers and 27 games with the team’s G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, last season. He also missed a chunk of the season with a broken bone in his right shooting hand.

The combo guard showed his ability to shoot and decent defensive instincts. As of now, the Sixers don’t have a true backup point guard on their bench, perhaps allowing the 22-year-old to compete for a role. With all the reported moves and first-round draft pick Matisse Thybulle, the Sixers have 12 players on their roster. They’re also right up against it cap wise, so a veteran minimum deal will likely occupy that 13th spot.
Milton’s deal being converted to a full NBA contract also opens up another two-way deal. That spot could go to 2019 second-round pick Marial Shayok. The Sixers signed big man Norvel Pelle to a two-way deal Tuesday.
Milton has been participating in the Sixers’ summer league minicamp and will play for them in Las Vegas. The team’s first summer league game will be on Friday against the Bucks.
